Arrived in one piece!

So here I am in lovely Cairns, which resembles California to a spooky degree. Folks are real laid-back. My hostel's a 15-minute walk from the lagoon. The weather's gorgeous - low 80's, sunny and dry. Not a lot of time to update ($2 only buys me 20 minutes of Internet, and I'm already down to 9), so here's the lowdown:
  • Still getting used to looking the other way before crossing the street.
  • Everything sounds sexier if you say it with an accent.
  • It's weird not being connected to a cell phone.
  • Within the first 5 minutes of the drive into town, I saw: Domino's Pizza, Subway, McDonald's and Mobil. I couldn't decide whether this was cool, or whether I felt like a tool for flying 7,500 miles to go to...America v.2.

Cheerio!

Hey everyone,

I leave for Cairns, Australia, (home of the Great Barrier Reef) tomorrow, but instead of doing necessary things like packing and oh, I don't know, exchanging money, I'm doing useless but highly amusing things like creating travel blogs. Well, just one blog. BUT FYI, I plan on updating Bobalicious as I make my way down the east coast of Oz. So I guess it really is blogs. Plural.

As much as I'd like to send random pix of freakishly green green tea boba from my Crackberry on a 24-hour basis, I'll have to resort to checking in with ya'll via Internet cafes and hostel computers when I'm not out hugging koalas and trying to escape death (6 of the 10 deadliest snakes in the world live in Australia). Guess I better watch my step, huh?

Have a great month of August. Stay cool!
